Young Galaxy: debut on Arts and Craft

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 04 17th, 2007 | View Comments

Young Galaxy signed with Arts and Craft in October of 2006, and immediately they were put on tour with The Dears. They recorded with Jace Lasek of Besnard Lakes at Breakglass Studio in Montreal in the summer of 2005 and spring of 2006, releasing Swing Your Heartache EP to promote their upcoming debut and to sell on tour. Now, six months after inking the deal with Arts and Craft, the band has toured extensively, performed at South by Southwest, and is ready to release their debut full-length on April 24. The entire album is streaming at MySpace.

April 20 and 21 will bring Young Galaxy to Toronto and Montreal, playing a show with The Frames. Then in May, the band will be touring the US, with The Album Leaf joining them during the first half of the tour.

Stephen Ramsay and Catherine McCandless comprised Young Galaxy before they signed and began touring. Pat Sayers, Stephen Kamp, and Susan Beckett support them on tour, though Ramsay and McCandless are the only two permanent members of Young Galaxy at this point. "Formed in the fog and bonfires of the West Coast and currently based in the romance and severity of Montreal, they create a kaleidoscopic sound with heavy tones and hypnotic male/female vocals."

    about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
