The Willowz: to release Chautauqua

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 03 13th, 2007 | View Comments

The WillowzMomentum for The Willowz is building as more people are being exposed to the Southern California garage-punk band. Their music was used in the Grammy-winning Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and more recently in The Science of Sleep. The music video for Cons and Tricks was nominated for Video of the Year on MTV2's Subterranean.

Signing to Dim Mak Records is giving The Willowz the push they'll need as they release Chautauqua on March 20. Having just finished a European tour, the band will be performing for the industry mogul at South by Southwest on March 14. After their CD Release Party for Chautauqua in Hollywood on March 20, The Willowz will kick off a US tour, lasting till the end of May. Tracks for Chautauqua can be heard on MySpace.

Jive Magazine gave Chautauqua a 5 out of 5:

"Continuing to channel the blues, rock, and soul of the 60's and 70's, the Willowz approach, although the antithesis of the minimalist framework of the White Stripes, maintains a similar sonic quality. Whether they are playing loud and raucous or twangy and soulful, this foursome from Anaheim, CA on Chautauqua has raised their song writing to truly legendary heights."

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
