The Whigs: Give `em All A Big Fat Lip

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 09 19th, 2006 | View Comments

Today, The Whigs released Give `em All A Big Fat Lip on ATO Records (David Gray, My Morning Jacket). Being a band that lives on the road, they're pushing a tour with Mute Math in October to support the album. This is what their website had to say:

The WhigsThe debut release from the Athens trio was tracked in July of 2005 at the Ross Crane House in Athens, Ga. by engineer Billy Bennett. The house sits in downtown Athens across from the legendary 40 Watt Club and was erected some 170 years prior in 1842. The house currently sits on the United States National Register of Historical Places. After a month of tracking, the album was driven to Nashville where it was mixed by David Axelrod and mastered by John Baldwin at Georgetown Masters.

Album artwork and design is the work of Athens' own Chris Bilheimer (R.E.M, Green Day, Neutral Milk Hotel) with photography by Atlanta's Sarah Ianacone.

"Give 'em All a Big Fat Lip" marks the first release of any music material for the trio after spending their first two years as a band opening shows for the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Drive By Truckers, Maroon 5, the Killers, Jessica Simpson, Barenaked Ladies, Elf Power, Futureheads, North Mississippi Allstars, Fuel, and Jason Lowenstein.

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
