The Veils: Nux Vomica, music video, and a North American tour

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 04 29th, 2007 | View Comments

The VeilsThe Veils released Nux Vomica in the US this week through Rough Trade Records. The album was originally released in the UK in September, 2006, and peaked on the UK charts at #19. Fans in the US and Canada will not have to wait long to catch The Veils, as they have a tour planned in North America during the month of June.

A music video for Calliope! was filmed during the first weekend of April. The video was filmed in a cave under the London Bridge, and the still shots alone are enough to draw intrigue. "It was cold, dark, funded largely by the New Zealand Government and fuelled by the goodwill of people like the Brownlee brothers," the band wrote in their blog. "Conditions were unsuitable for babies, so we had to find a new theme, and a £5 piano, a stuffed owl and a strange, underwater atmosphere were pressed into service. Henning brought along the ubiquitous and much appreciated coffee machine, and Liam destroyed the piano with a mallet."

The VeilsThe Veils hails from both the UK and New Zealand, with Andrew Finn heading the band. The original line-up of The Veils recorded their debut in 2001, when Andrew Finn was only 16. Due to a court battle with their record label, The Runaway Found wasn't released until 2002. The band broke up a year later, and Finn moved from London back to his New Zealand home in 2004. The current line-up of The Veils was formed around this time, and the band moved to London. Finn's father, Barry Andrews, was the keyboardist for XTC, and guest appeared on Iggy Pop's Soldier. about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
