Uncut: to tour with Dinosaur Jr

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 04 27th, 2007 | View Comments

Canadians have been listening to Uncut's Modern Currencies since the Toronto band released it on October 26, 2006, and this summer the US will be join them. Modern Currencies is "filled with big swirling guitar rock and curious backing vocals from ex Smashing Pumpkin Melissa Auf Der Maur."

Uncut is signed to Paper Bag Records, and in February the band's high energy rock caught the ear of The MuseBox, who then picked them up for online promotions. The result is increased exposure and an upcoming tour with Dinosaur Jr in Uncut's native Canada.

Apparently when Modern Currencies was added to the Canadian iTunes store, the upload was rattled with errors, resulting in the album being taken down. This week the band blogged, "To any and all of our fellow Canadians who are interested in buying Modern Currencies from iTunes, you're in luck! After a 4 month hiatus the the album is back online. Sure, some of the names are still slightly wrong, but hey, you can't always expect perfection."

Those Who Hung Hang Here came out in 2004, when Uncut was transitioning from a two-piece studio project to a four-piece touring band. Critics raved about the album, Billboard writing, "Jagged riffs and hypnotic beats yield the album Interpol should have made." Bob Mould of Husker Du invited them to open for his 2006 tour, just one of the many accomplishments in the band's pedigree.

    about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
