Tournaments: 7″ single

Posted by Flick in News on 01 9th, 2008 | View Comments

Tournaments are releasing their first 7″ single debut on February 18. Boldest Colours will be on side-a, and Message Deleted will be on side-b. A demo of Boldest Colours is streaming on Myspace, along with Turn and Run and Lone Sailor. Digital downloads of the songs will be available at Yeah Ok, as well as iTunes.

Tournaments are a new band from Newport, United Kingdom. They played their first show in August, performing as a five-piece, mixing in violin, lapsteel, guitar, bass, and drums. Niamh plays the violin in the band, painting colour behind the melodies, and using the emotional instrument to push the rhythm along.

In September, 2007, Gethin Pearson shared with Puddlegum that Tournaments, “have been putting together tunes for a few months with the idea of just making a fresh pop record. We recorded them underneath a boxing club in Newport, UK and in my basement.” The hours spent writing and recording is about to pay off.

i did a post on tournaments a few months back, and i’m excited to hear their new songs (i only got demos from the band), but i think there’s a problem with your links – i’m not getting anything from them.

    cheers,

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
