The Drones: touring with Band of Horses

Posted by Flick in News on 10 29th, 2007 | View Comments

The DronesThe Drones are launching a US tour with Band of Horses, starting tomorrow on October 30. This Australian “blue-based psych-rock” band is also releasing a double 7″ as part of Custom Made, a vinyl and digital series put out by ATP Recordings, on November 5.

“The vinyl is limited to just 1,000 pieces, and 100 of them will be special edition silk screened printed covers, numbered and signed by the sleeve designer.”

The concept behind The Drones double 7″ is “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue.” They rerecorded Cockeyed Lowlife of the Highlands, and chose one of their new songs, I Don’t Ever Want To Change, from their Gala Mill album. Borrowing from Charles Aznavour, The Drones covered I Drink, and on side D is Shark Fin Blues from Wait Long By The River.

Side A. Something Old – Cockeyed Lowlife of the Highlands (New recording of this old song)
Side B. Something New – I Don’t Ever Want to Change (taken from the album Gala Mill)
Side C. Something Borrowed – I Drink (originally by Charles Aznavour)
Side D. Something Blue – Shark Fin Blues (taken from the album Wait Long By the River)

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
