The Boy Least Likely To: Knits to be released in August

The Boy Least Likely ToThe Boy Least Likely To is beginning to surface new songs from their sophomore album, Knits. I Box Up All The Butterflies is being offered as a free download after signing up on their email list. The single comes with the cover image of a red knitted cartoon character. Peter Hobbs‘ brother designed characters for the first album cover, and the childlike characters are back.

We’re told to expect the album in August, with a few more singles released before then. Two other songs have been placed on Myspace: A Balloon On A Broken String, and The Boy Least Likely To Is A Machine.

The band performed two shows this week, regaining their bearings on stage. To prepare for their London show, The Boy Least Likely To opened up for a low pressure show in Kingston, not announcing the show in advance for fear that they wouldn’t be prepared. Shaking off stage freight, The Boy Least Likely To will be performing at festivals and touring during the summer months.

The Boy Least Likely ToThe Boy Least Likely To released their debut through their own record label, Too Young To Die Records. Peter Hobbs and Jof Owen’s twee pop songs were recorded in their bedrooms, using children’s toys, and low expectations over the course of a year. To their own surprise The Best Party Ever took off.

In April, `07 The Boy Least Likely To began working on the new album. Puddlegum asked Peter Hobbs if they would change their approach to recording after the success of the first album, and Hobbs responded with ,“We aren’t going to change the way we work too much, doesn’t feel right somehow.” They stayed true to their words; much like their debut album, after a year in their home studio Knits is complete.
