The Silver State: to debut with Cut and Run

January 30th 2008 by Flick in News 2

Destined to be one of the strongest debuts of the year, The Silver State is releasing Cut and Run on Young American Recordings on April 15. The Silver State’s guitar playing and song structure is reminiscent of Pedro the Lion’s It’s Hard To Find A Friend. They have also been compared to Yo La Tango and Pavement, and understandably so.

Caleb Lindskoog began playing music when he was five years old, and formed several bands while he was in high school, though Caleb would rather hide his early recordings. Lindskoog started The Silver State (aka Silverstate) in his Las Vegas home in 2003, releasing an EP in the winter of 2006. They then moved to Brooklyn, and didn’t wait long to record Cut and Run. when the album was completed it was handed to Young American Recordings by their friends in Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s.

“During the past half decade, Caleb has been a part of recording projects with Secretly Canadian artist June Panic, Vess Ruhtenberg (The Lemonheads), Heidi Gluck (Some Girls), former Las Vegas bandmate Ronnie Vannucci (The Killers), Andy Fry (Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s), and others. Since its formation, The Silver State has performed with Apples In Stereo, Ben Kweller, The Album Leaf and The Silversun Pickups.” (Young American Recordings)
