Tacks, The Boy Disaster: demoing new material

Posted by Flick in News on 11 1st, 2007 | View Comments

Tacks, The Boy DisasterTacks, The Boy Disaster is preparing to have an album released in the spring of 2008, according to the band’s management. “The guys are demoing new material now and we should have something done in the spring. Lookout for British press coming in as we are releasing Oh, Beatrice in UK and going on tour starting next week.” Tacks, The Boy Disaster is headed up by Evan Jacobs, a former member of Midlake and The Polyphonic Spree. The band debuted with Oh, Beatrice in November, 2006.

WOXY invited Tacks, The Boy Disaster this summer to perform as part of their Lounge Acts. They opened with a spotless performance of Frozen Feet and Man With A Plan/Last Stand, and closed with Queen Of The Fishermen. They debuted Dying To Know, an older yet unreleased song that will be on the upcoming album.

Tacks, The Boy Disaster - Oh BeatriceDuring the interview with WOXY, Evan Jacobs explained that their name is from an old book. “It sounded neat, and I thought it would be neat if somebody used it as a band name. I just didn’t think we would have the wherewithal to do it, but then we did. It’s kind of a commitment to choose a name like that.”

During a Daytrotter session, Evan Jacobs explained that Dying to Know is, “one of our sci-fi songs, laser beams and all, which is a theme we’re looking forward to unpacking on the next album. This is actually my oldest song, but I was never able to find the missing link until Nathan came along and lent his ears and a fresh idea for the bridge.”
