Suicide Squeeze: spring tours
Suicide Squeeze artists have kicked off their spring/summer tours, beginning with yesterday's (April 6) Page France show in Champaign, Illinois. Chin Up Chin Up is opening for Minus the Bear for 27 gigs, with most of this tour staying West of the Mississippi River, traveling as far East as Chicago.
Minus the Bear have a new album, Ice Monster, coming August 21, co-produced with their former member, Matt Bayles. Cory Murchy had this to say about the new album:
"After holing up for a little over two months in various studios around Seattle, we're happy to say we are in the final stages of completion with our new disc, Planet of Ice. We've survived several emergency room visits (where some bones were set, wounds stitched up and most recently i.v. fluids administered to help out a bad case of food poisoning) and managed to knock out a record that we are all brimming to the gills with glee about. We've just begun the mixing process and couldn't be happier with the results."
Page France will be traveling the Eastern half of the Continental US and Canada from now till May 6. Two days later, May 8, Page France will release …and the Family Telephone. Michael Nau states, "For the first time, it really feels like we're a band. …and the Family Telephone is definitely the most collaborative album that I've ever done. Everybody had thier input and there are a lot of fingerprints on it." This will be their fifth album in four years.
Six Parts Seven is taking a straight shot across the 48 States through the month of April. They will perform live in Seattle's KEXP studio on April 10 at 12pm, capping the evening at The Crocodile. Most of their tour will accompany Richard Buckner, but they also have a show with Deerhunter, along with a show with Sunset Rubdown.
Chin Up Chin Up is receiving major exposure with their new music video for This Harness Can't Ride Anything. The video was directed by Eric David Johnson, who also directed M. Ward's Chinese Translation music video, and animated by UniBros. Suicide Squeeze wrote, " Since it's debut on You Tube, it's received over 240,000 views and now, the good folks at MTV2 Subterranean are giving it's network TV debut this Sunday April 8 @ 1AM EST/12AM CT!"
