Sufjan Stevens to write and record in 2007

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 12 10th, 2006 | View Comments

Sufjan Stevens @ The Town Hall, NYC, 2006-09-29 While you're boogying to Sufjan Stevens' elf dance, 2007 will bring more reason to celebrate. Lowell Brams of Asthmatic Kitty confirmed with Puddlegum that Sufjan Stevens "will be writing and recording in 2007," though this also means that "no tours are planned." Whether or not Sufjan will theme the album around a State has yet to be revealed.

Stevens' time of writing and recording will provide Asthmatic Kitty the opportunity to spotlight their artists while Sufjan Stevens is hiding in the background. This is evidenced in Asthmatic Kitty's response to Sufjan being nominated for a 2007 Plug Male Artist of the Year Award, asking supporters to vote for other artists. "We feel he got plenty of attention last year from the Plug Awards and recommend you vote for Chad VanGaalen or Scott Walker." This is the third straight year that Sufjan has been nominated for a Plug award, after winning three awards in 2006.

Asthmatic Kitty announced that they received more orders for the five disc Songs for Christmas than expected. Lowell Brams shared with Puddlegum that it's "very hard to say what we expected, only that it was far less than what we received; same goes for our distributor."

The Asthmatic Kitty website stated:
"Orders for Sufjan Stevens's Songs for Christmas have far exceeded our expectations (thank you!) and as a result, we won't be able to ship more until our next shipment arrives, which we are told will be around the second week of December. Unfortunately, this also means that we'll be unable to fill orders placed after Nov. 15th until that time. We'll ship all orders in the order received."

    about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
