Sufjan Stevens: Christmas Contest

Posted by Fernanda Alcantara in News on 11 11th, 2007 | View Comments

Sufjan Stevens: Christmas ContestSufjan Stevens is running a contest for the holiday season by challenging fans to write an original Christmas song, record it and send it in to his label, Asthmatic Kitty. They will pick a winner, and that person will trade rights to their song for rights to a new Sufjan Christmas song.

“Just like a gift exchange, Sufjan’s song becomes your song. You can hoard it for yourself, sell it to a major corporation, use it in your daughter’s first Christmas video, or share it for free on your website. No one except Sufjan and you will hear his song, unless you decide otherwise. You get the song and all legal rights to it.” Also, they get the same rights to your song.

Contest began November 9th, and all submissions must be in by midnight December 1st. They will contact and announce the winner around December 15th.

You can hear all five of Sufjan’s Christmas albums on a special website (http://xmas.asthmatickitty.com/) until December 25th.

First, you must agree with the rules and stipulations…

    about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
