The Subjects: summer tour, plans to record

Posted by Flick in News on 07 16th, 2007 | View Comments

The SubjectsThe Subjects are hitting the interstate on a 21-show tour, spanning the East Coast and Midwest between July 17 and August 11. They will be touring with two bands, Knife Crazy and End of the World for most of the tour. The Brooklyn based band will be playing shows with Black Tie Revue, Oscillating Fan Club, Kentucky Nightmare, The Sprickets, The Narrator, and many others.

The band has new material that will be tested out on the road. Matty Pickles shared with Puddlegum, “We have a lot of new stuff that we are working on and are going to try and play it a lot on tour. Then we are going to start recording when we get back.”

With a befitting name, The Subjects “formed while two members were teachers and the two others their high school students.” They have since released With The Ease Grace Precision And Cleverness Of Human Beings full length in February 2007, and a self-titled The Subject EP in September 2005.

Pretty Activity Records explains the band’s inception:
“After forming to play a school carnival in 2004 they realized a common goal of making music. They quickly got their act together and played shows around New York. The Subjects recorded the EP after a tour spanning from Michigan to Boston. The EP was recorded on a four-track cassette machine in a weekend. It is self-released.”

    about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
