		<description>No, &#039;purest&#039; is the right word. At the time, folk music was a rebellion against conformity. They were against the conformity of the 1950s, yet against popular music. They had a message and thought that an acoustic guitar and the voice was pure. &#039;Purist&#039; conjures up a traditional and formal image, and though folk was passing on a traditional form of music, it was being used by the protest movement because it was (they believed at the time) pure.</description>
