Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 07 9th, 2007 | View Comments

Sigur RosSigur Ros has released 5,000 limited edition vinyl LP collector sets called In A Frozen Sea: A Year With Sigur Ros. The set “includes 3 classic Sigur Ros albums – Agaetis Byrjun, (), and Takk. Also included in this set is Smaskifa, which has never before been released in a 12″ vinyl format. These 7 pieces of vinyl come encased in a hard cover book, and slip into 7 individually customized sleeves,” released through Artist in Residence.

These limited edition sets are individually numbered and foil stamped, with fifty autographed copies being shipped out at random. In A Frozen Sea is available for $150. The 32-page hardback book covers a year’s journey when Sigur Ros toured the world during the Takk tour, available for $20.

The Artist in Residence website is designed to resemble a music room, screening room, gallery, library, and recording studio. The content changes with each resident artist, showcasing their music and art. Currently Sigur Ros is the showcased artist, and every song on In A Frozen Sea is streamed. In the music room, simply drag the LP you want to listen to into a white frame and an animated vinyl is loaded onto a turn-table. After you have loaded the player, you can continue surfing their site.

Nine music videos, are streamed in a screening room, and reels can be loaded onto a reel-to-reel player in the A+R studio room, as you read about the studio engineers that started A+R. In the lounge room you can click on the radio tuner and listen to other bands on A+R, Akira The Don, Amiina, Band Marino, Marnie Stern, Rodeo Massacre, and Warren Suicide. The website is well worth the exploration and you may find yourself falling in love with the other bands that A+R are working with.

A+R is open to music submissions, with a panel of judges deciding the next artist in residence. Along with the website, A+R is a quarterly print publication. A+R is directed by Flood (U2, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, The Killers) and Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Jesus and Mary Chain, Ride, Depeche Mode, Arctic Monkeys).

“A+R is a publication developed for artists who want to showcase issues of central importance in their world. The Parameters placed upon the artists are limitless, and issues my cover topics such as: music, art, literature, film, and politics. Free from the conventional constraints of traditional media, A+R gives the artist complete freedom, letting them shape the look and feel of their issue.”

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
