Shout Out Louds: return to the US

Posted by Flick in News on 09 21st, 2007 | View Comments

P1390107Shout Out Louds, a Swedish indie outfit, are in the middle of a European tour, in support of Our Ill Wills. Björn Yttling of Peter Björn and John produced Our Ill Wills, having guided them on their EP, Oh, Sweetheart. Close to two million plays on Last.fm may divulge the enormity of this band.

Their sophomore full-length was originally released in Sweden on April 25, then Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and Austria in May. North America had no choice but to wait in line until September 11 when Merge Records released Our Ill Wills.

Taking just four days off between tours, Shout Out Louds will jump continents and yet again mesmerize crowds in North America on October 6. Twenty four gigs are scheduled across the US and Canada, ending November 3, though they will not be resting for long. As for the bands they will be tour with in the US, they wrote on their Myspace blog, “We are bringing Johnossi from Sweden with us and Nico Vega.”

Their first US single is the opening track, Tonight I Have To Leave It. An EP with the title of the track was released on September 5, with two additional songs and two remixes of Tonight I Have To Leave It.

Four guy and one girl, who had been friends since childhood, formed Luca Brasi in 2001… then realized that the band name was taken. Two years later they released Howl Howl Gaff Gaff, their debut full-length that granted them a world-wide audience.

Hey, thanks for the Shout Out Louds post! But I just noticed the “Merge (Epic)” reference. Not sure if you are inferring that Merge is in some way affiliated with the Epic Records label, or that we are just “epic”. If you are trying to suggest the former, nothing could be further from the truth (we are in no way a part of Epic Records, we stand on our own), and if it’s the latter, well, we’re blushing, but cannot claim to be “epic” in any way. But thanks again for posting about the tour!

My apologies Martin. I saw on a Swedish website that they were signed with Epic:

    about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
