Scott Solter remixes John Vanderslice’s Pixel Revolt in analog

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 04 17th, 2007 | View Comments

John VandersliceScott Solter has remixed John Vanderlice's the entire Pixel Revolt album. The remix was pieced together in analog, a daunting task of splicing and taping. Solter engineers and produces at Vanderslice's Tiny Telephone studio, having produced Vanderslice's albums, Spoon, Mountain Goats, Okkervil River, among many others.

Every remixed song has been generously posted on Vanderslice's website. The songs are offered individually as mp3s, in a zipped file of mp3s, and a zipped file of hi-res files. John is a supporter of mp3 blogs, journaling his current tour on Brooklyn Vegan.

John Vanderslice and his band is several shows into his spring tour with St. Vincent. Not only is he encouraging fans to non-commercially record and video his shows, he is inviting fans on stage to sing his songs. "If you want to sing LEAD VOCALS on a song for our upcoming tour, please find us before the show and we'll bring you on stage. Try to learn 2 songs in case we don't know the one you do:) It'll be like Vanderslice Idol. Also, if you want to play bass, bring it (don't worry about the amp) and learn either 424 or My Old Flame. It'll be a free for all."

As Puddlegum previously reported, John Vanderslice's new album is recorded, currently being mixed and mastered. This album was produced by Scott Solter, and Vanderslice decided to approach it as a band instead of a solo project. "This will be a band record. We're trying to play everything live and keep things very simple. We're failing on both counts." The new album will be released on Barsuk Records.

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
