Rocky Votolato: summer tour dates

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 05 15th, 2007 | View Comments

Rocky VotolatoRocky Votolato has announced summer tour dates for June and July, to support his fifth album, The Brag and Cuss. He will be taking the band that he recorded the album with out on the road with him, and in the fall a full US tour is being planned. Langhorne Slim will be opening for the June and July shows.

On July 20, Rocky Votolato will performing live on KEXP (90.3 FM) in Seattle at 9:30am. The Brag and Cuss CD release party is being held on July 21, at the Triple Door in Seattle, with Night Canopy as the opener. Then on July 22, Votolato is performing live on The End (107.7 FM), followed by an in-store performance at Easy Street Records in Queen Anne at 7pm.

"The Brag And Cuss, Votolato's fifth, marks a major turning point in his career. Unlike the minimal acoustic guitar and vocals of his breakthrough, makers, this is very much a band record. The album ventures at times into the classic country territory of lovers, drinkers, and the distant oasis of a truck stop on a stretch of dark highway." (Barsuk)

Rocky Votolato - The Brag and CussWith the band approach, Rocky Votolato took a risk of trusting other musicians to form the sounds he envisioned in his mind. Since it is a different setup, The Brag and Cuss is not more of the same, criticism he most likely would have faced if he had chosen to approach this as a solo album. The Brag and Cuss will be an album that redefines the sound of his solo career, from minimalism to layered sounds.

Obscure Sound describes The Brag and Cuss as, "a realignment to a deeper and involved sound compared to his previous album Makers," calling it, "one of his most accomplished and enjoyable albums, both musically and lyrically."

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
