RJD2 is releasing a new album through XL Recordings called The Third Hand. The full-length will be released on March 5 in the UK and March 6 in the US. This is the first solo recording RJD2 has done in a "real studio" in four years.
Two songs have been posted on RJD2's MySpace. The Third Hand doesn't have any MC's appearing on the album, steering away from rap and hip-hop. XL states, "For The Third Hand, RJD2 seemingly abandons all the notions and titles that have been placed upon him over the past 5 years."
Writing in his blog, "the new record has got something for everybody on it. Some of the most mondo-destroyer drum programming I've ever done." Ramble John "RJ" Krohn recorded all of the instruments and XL states that The Third Hand, "takes in influences as diverse as folk, blue-eyed soul and psychedelic pop all underpinned with his trademark beats." Larry Gold engineered the album, a producer that has been behind numerous platinum selling albums.
Expect to see RJD2 touring North America in March, as his blog has hinted that "the lineup is looking great."
