Puddlegum to return soon

Posted by Flick in Chasing Lions on 10 15th, 2008 | View Comments

This has been an interesting year, to say the least. We set out to start the Chasing Lions ‘blog label’ and everything looked promising. Several artists/bands were lined up to release their music with us, starting in October. Marketing agencies were lining up, a booking agency began lining up shows, promotional plans were under way, and albums were tracked.

The first wheel that came off was when band A jumped ship. I spent over six months recording, co-producing, and mixing the album and we were all excited with the results… then shocked when the band walked away.

The next wheel that fell off was when band B broke up. We were all saddened when things fell apart for the band. Around this time our solo artist joined an upcoming band that is gaining attention in the industry.

With the economic woes that have befallen the world, the uncertain times ahead, and the nature of the music industry, we decided that now isn’t the best time to start a record label.

I have decided to bring Puddlegum back. A new website is being designed and a set of writers are joining. Expect more music blogging, breaking stories and opinion pieces. I will also promote my services to artists, which include recording, producing, mixing, web designing, web 2.0 integration, promotional kit development, etc.

I am excited to bring Puddlegum back (again) and reconnecting with you… artists, industry folk, and independent music lovers.

Really sorry to hear that things fell apart – we’d talked about the plan and I was excited to see where you’d go with it.

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
