Point Juncture, WA: on tour
Heading on tours that travel outside of Portland can only help others discover Point Juncture, WA's ethereal dreampop sound. As this story floats down the Puddlegum front page, Point Juncture, WA is on their first tour outside of the West Coast, with Velella Velella.
Point Juncture, WA is a band that deserves to be discovered by the blogosphere and pushed into the forefront of all-things-hip. After listening to their self produced full-length, Mama Auto Boss, released a year ago, we've been wondering why this band doesn't receive more recognition.
I mean, it's rare to find a band with a chick drummer. It's almost as rare to find a drummer that shares the lead vocals. Combine the two and you almost have a mathematical improbability. As the band's website puts it, their sound is best described as "layers of dub-like beats, melodic/dissonant guitars and droning keyboards with vocal performances from three of the band's members and accents from a rollicking vibraphone and the occasional trumpet blast."
Point Juncture, WA re-released Juxtapony EP in January on the Portland label, Lucky Madison, two years after it was first pressed. Mama Auto Boss had just been independently released in a beautiful handmade package before they began working with the local label. Let's hope 2007 brings more than reprinted albums.
