Point Juncture, WA: covers Steely Dan, plans October tour

Posted by Flick in News on 09 26th, 2007 | View Comments

wilsonPoint Juncture, WA has informed Puddlegum that they are expecting their next album to be out by January 2008. The album, tentatively titled Heart to Elk, is being self-produced in their Portland basement studio, but don’t make lo-fi assumptions… Skyler Norwood, guitarist for Point Juncture, WA produced the critically acclaimed Horse Feathers that was nominated for a 2007 Plug Award for Americana Album of the Year.

Victor Paul explains:

“We’ve been thorax deep in the studio working on a full length album’s worth of songs and we’re more than a little excited to put headphone tedium and patch-bay fatigue behind us for a couple of rock and roll road trip filled weeks. We’re hoping to finish up tracking in the first couple of weeks of November and then get it out, hopefully, by January.”

Amanda of Point Juncture, WA To break the repetition of punch-ins, Point Juncture, WA is heading out for an autumn tour along the West Coast in October. Though a few details are still being inked out concerning bands that will share the ticket, they will be performing with Horse Feathers and Tanukis on October 14 at The Hi-Dive in Denver. On October 17 Point Juncture, WA will treat an audience at Modified Arts in Phoenix with Cardiac Party and Plants and Animals. El Olio Wolof will join them at The Partisan in Merced, California on October 20.

“Also coming with us for the ride is internationally acclaimed rock and roll photographer Jason Quigley. He’ll be collecting evidence of the hedonistic lifestyle, which from past experience will include cheap hotels, a never ending search for vegan food, and lots of tow trucks.”

paulArena Rock Recording Co invited Portland bands to record covers for a compilation called Bridge The Distance. Proceeds from the album benefit a local non-profit youth mentoring program called p:ear. (http://pearmentor.org). Point Juncture, WA happily covered Steely Dan‘s Pearl of the Quarter. “Finally we can reveal ourselves to the world as the obsessive Dan fans that we truly are.” Other artists on the compilation include The Decemberists, Christopher Walla, Viva Voce, Talkdemonic, The Minus 5, The Thermals, The Dandy Warhols, and eleven others.

    about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
