Paste Magazine: name your own price

Posted by Flick in News on 10 30th, 2007 | View Comments

IMG_0156 Paste Magazine has taken the cue from the success of In Rainbows  and is offering their magazine for a “name your own subscription price,” with a minimum of $1 to cover transaction fees. This offer begins today, October 29, and will continue for two weeks.

The typical subscription for Paste is $19.95 for one-year (11 issues), each magazine is packaged with a CD. The special “name your own price” campaign will also include CDs. Readers also have the option of ordering multiple subscriptions.

Anyone that willingly pays more than the regular $19.95 subscription will be “thanked in print, in a future magazine of Paste.”

“The campaign came about from a casual conversation at the PASTE offices discussing the recent Radiohead campaign and the Jim Collins book, Good to Great. ‘We were curious to know what our customers thought we were worth. And what better way to find out, than to let them tell us,’ explained PASTE President/Publisher Tim Regan-Porter. ‘While it’s certainly a bit unconventional, we also see it as a chance to get our product in the hands of people who could become lifelong fans. It’s been our experience that once people become familiar with PASTE, they turn into loyal readers,’ added Regan-Porter.”

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
