From our friends at Riot Act Media:
Chicago's Mike Kinsella (Cap'n Jazz, Joan of Arc, American Football, Owls) has opened a new chapter in regards to Owen and he would like you to read it. The new chapter is titled, At Home With, and it deals with the many transformations of Mike's life over the past year or so as he has dealt with everything from the death of a family member to subscribing to cable television.
The new chapter also includes a new sound as Mike has moved away from his signature bedroom style recordings to something that allowed him to add what he likes to call a "third dimension" to the music of Owen. The new approach to recording involved a fraction of pre-recording at his mom's house (in which Joan of Arc had just recorded an entire album's worth of material), followed by sessions at Semaphore Studios (with cousin Nate Kinsella, who also plays on the record) and Engine Studios (with Brian Deck).
What emerged was an Owen album that features a great amount of depth and a expansive range of emotions, this of course provides solid evidence that sometimes moving out is a good thing. At Home With drops November 7 on Polyvinyl and is Mike's fourth full length under the Owen moniker.
