Octoberman: Run Away From Safety, tour dates

Posted by Flick in News on 09 4th, 2007 | View Comments

OctobermanOctoberman’s new album, Run From Safety, is out in North America twelve months after it was mixed and mastered. A vinyl version will hit Europe in late September, and the CD/digital format will hit the UK on October 16. Ears that have an affection to Calexico and Bright Eyes will most likely enjoy Marc Morrissette’s music.

Fittingly, Octoberman will tour Canada in October, sharing the stage with label mates Mohawk Lodge. Poorfolk will join them in Ottawa and Montreal on October 19 and 20. Fans in Europe should expect Octoberman to cross the big pond in early 2008, while no plans have been announced yet of another US tour, with Marc Morrissette writing, “that border is getting scarier by the day.”

Marc Morrissette tracked Run From Safety in three studios in Vancouver between March and August of 2006, with the help of James Henderson. Ten musicians loaned their talents to develop this album, and several of them are joining him on the road.

Marc Morrissette was the front-man for Kids These Days, and in 2003 he traveled Europe, Asia, and North America under the solo name of Octoberman. Two years later he released These Trails Are Old and New on White Whale Records, the same label that released Kids These Days.

“Once Octoberman made the decision to run from safety, turning back was not an option. Upon mastering his new album, Morrissette quit his job and embarked on a European tour that lead him through five countries in five weeks. He next crossed the Atlantic, climbed into his Volkswagen and toured the continental United States. One can only imagine the inspiring questions that were raised along the way.”

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
