The National: opening for Arcade Fire

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 04 24th, 2007 | View Comments

The NationalThe National has been invited to open the first leg of the Arcade Fire's US tour, with most of the tour already sold out. Reaching into the excitement surrounding the Arcade Fire, The National is releasing Boxer on May 22, two weeks after the Arcade Fire tour. As they have in the past, they will spend months on the road after Boxer is released.

European fans will be treated with three shows, corresponding with the release date, in London, Paris, and Berlin, returning to New York City for five sold-out shows at the Bowery Ballroom. This will kick off a North American June tour that include three shows in Canada, finding the band in Europe for three shows again in July. The National will perform at the Rosklide Festival in Denmark, the Oxegen Festival in Ireland, and the Latitude Festival in Southwold, UK.

Matt BerningerThe National is currently gaining exposure in the UK through Steve Lamacq on 6 Music, BBC Radio. He has added Mistaken for Strangers to his Rebel Playlist. Listeners to 6 Music are asked to "vote on your favourite track from three that almost made it onto the official 6 Music Playlist." Steve Lamacq has a huge audience in the UK and is known for breaking bands onto the UK market. He "presents a weekly show on BBC Radio 2, every Wednesday night from 11.30pm – 12.30am, where he plays his choice of music and introduces listeners to emerging artists." (Wikipedia)

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
