The National: Boxer coming May 21, tour dates announced

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 03 19th, 2007 | View Comments

The National will be releasing their fourth album, Boxer, on May 21 in Europe, and May 22 in the US, through Beggars Banquet. Boxer follows the critically acclaimed Alligator, which brought on six Plug Award nominations in 2006. The band will perform three shows in Europe to support the release, then 27 shows in North America. To preview accoustic versions from Boxer, Blogotheque has posted live performances of Ada and Start a War. Audio from these acoustic performances have since been posted online.

Bryce Dessner of The National and his side project of The Clogs has helped organize a music festival in Cincinnati called Music Now over the weekend of April 5 – 7. Amiina will be performing music from their new album, and backing up a special Sufjan Stevens' performance. Music Now will also include My Brightest Diamond, and Irena and Vojtech Havel.

"Opening night marathon concert featuring a US debut solo performance by Pedro Soler (Flamenco guitar), world premieres by Padma Newsome and Bryce Dessner with Clogs and percussionist David Cossin. Also – world premieres of select arrangements from Sufjan Stevens' Enjoy Your Rabbit album for String Quartet, and a new composition for Marimba, Saw, and String Quartet by Maria Huld Markan from Amiina."

The National – Ada (acoustic)
The National – Start a War (acoustic)
The Clogs – Kapsburger and 5/4 medley
Sufjan Stevens – Year of the Dog

    about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
