Of Montreal: Two new albums in January, extensive tour planned

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 12 26th, 2006 | View Comments

of MontrealOf Montreal have fans excited about their extensive '07 tour. With over fifty shows booked between January and April, of Montreal will share the stage with A Hawk and a Hacksaw, Enon, Elekibass, Grand Buffet, Pigeon John, and Loney, Dear.

Of Montreal will be releasing Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? on January 23 through Polyvinyl Records, just five months after their last album was dropped. Their label describes Hissing Fauna:

"Written and recorded primarily during what he calls 'an insane year,' Hissing Fauna sees [Jeremy] Barnes adopt a new writing style. It’s an unabashedly autobiographical attempt from a songwriter whose early material tended towards characters and story-songs. Barnes continues down the whimsical pop funk path, while changing up its lyrical scope; and Hissing Fauna balances its poppy nature while showcasing brutal and unflinching honesty."

An EP called Icons, Abstract Thee will be sold during the tour, and will be offered as a dual package with Hissing Fauna mail orders. Counting EPs, 7" singles, and LPs, Icons will mark of Montreal's 23rd release since their debut in 1997.

The extensive tour will support the January 23 dual release of Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? and Icons, Abstract Thee. Listen to the Hissing Fauna album stream.

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
