Matt Pond PA: new album completed

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 09 1st, 2006 | View Comments

After perusing Matt Pond PA’s blog, I came across this interesting and exciting entry. It looks like Matt Pond PA has finished a new album, following Several Arrows Later, to be released on Altitude Records! This is what he had to say:

August 24, 2006 – I think we’re getting closer to being finished with this beast. The record is an unruly animal that’s gotten into all my personal things and torn them up. Or it’s like one of those babies that isn’t cute in any way. It’s just wrinkly and red right now. Someday. Someday. I will put it to bed so that I may truly sleep…To be fair — Or to be honest — In the privacy of this quiet criticism, it’s the best thing that we’ve ever done as a band. I only whispered that last sentence.

The fall is about to drop. So are shows. Months of shows. Look out.

Altitude Records, posted this:

July 31, 2006 – While you haven’t heard much from Altitude News in a while, matt pond PA has [been] busier than ever. Having just finished up their summer tour, the band has jumped back into the studio to give you all what you really want – another album! In the meantime, satisfy yourself with some fun matt pond PA news:

The summer tour was a huge success and included performances alongside a number of exciting artists. Matt pond PA played dates with Yo La Tengo, The Stills, Mates of State, Nada Surf, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Band Of Horses, Owen, and Saturday Looks Good To Me. The matt pond PA tour culminated in a show at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park Bandshell, which drew in thousands of fans and included indie rock bands Voxtrot and TV on the Radio. Thanks to everyone who caught matt pond PA in concert this summer!

In other matt pond PA news, the band’s new video for their latest single “So Much Trouble” has been getting a ton of attention. The video appeared on Virgin Megastore video screens in May and June and has aired on Canada’s Much Music, Fuel TV and New York Noise. Those of you who love matt pond PA’s music will be sure to love this new video, which is shot in black and white and animated by red and orange falling leaves, in light of Matt’s description of “how the fall is coming down”. The video can now be purchased on iTunes and was the music store’s featured video for the week of July 10th.

Also available on iTunes is matt pond PA’s version of Oasis’ hit song “Champagne Supernova”. Be sure to check out the previously unreleased EXCLUSIVE edit and instrumental recordings of the track.

    about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
