Matt Pond PA: Last Light delayed until August

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 02 11th, 2007 | View Comments

Matt PondMatt Pond PA has decided to postpone the release of Last Light until August, 2007. The album is complete and is currently being mastered, but Matt Pond decided to hold off from the spring release so tour plans can be completed. The band is dealing with the issues of "preparing for a full-on tour with a failing van."

In an interview with Blogcritics Magazine, Matt Pond shared that they wrote 25 songs for Last Light and selected 13 or 14 for the new album. "The rest will probably be released as B-sides. I always have these grandiose ideas with the extra songs, but usually end up just releasing the material as B-sides."

Brian Pearl decided to step down from Matt Pond PA, "for the illusive world of slow food, health insurance and stable relationships." Consequently, the band is looking for a replacement on guitar, keyboard, and keytar.

As for music that Matt Pond has been listening to lately, "I'm putting my ears to other peoples' music," blogs Matt Pond. "Vietnam, Trail of the Dead, Mojave 3, Serge Gainsbourg, White Magic, always Vashti Bunyan. The last Joanna Newsom is so good it's almost painful."

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
