Matt Pond PA: If You Want Blood EP, and The Dark Leaves side project
This summer Matt Pond PA plans to release If You Want Blood EP as a short run. Pre-orders can be placed at Altitude Records, and two songs can be streamed on MySpace. Matt Pond decided to hold off from releasing their full-lenth album again. Last Light has already been recorded and mastered and is ready for a release on Polyvinyl, but it appears that Last Light won't be released until the spring of September
Instead, Matt Pond has formed a side project called The Dark Leaves with the current Matt Pond PA lineup. The new band is releasing a four song EP on June 5, called The Dark Leaves EP: "I/we threw away songs — ended up with four. Four. We'll finish them over the summer, assigning it all to our new side title, The Dark Leaves — wherein all reward, responsibility and frustration will be shared equally."
Matt Pond PA is looking to fill two slots in their band. The band, who blogs almost daily on their website, has posted an open request for musicians to contact them. The positions open include bass, keys, and backup vocals.
"We're looking again — in search of one or two excellent people to join our band. The positions include the bass, keys, and singing. All in one, or all in two. We have to see what works best.
It would be at least a year committment — starting in September. Maybe longer if it works out for all of us. Jobs, relationships and personalities have gotten in way with prior members. We're looking for someone that we can survive in the best and worst situations — more than survive. Because really, most of this is driving, hanging out in hotels, hanging out in rock clubs. And we don't like to kill time — we like to have a good time — all the time. Or at least rock trying.
We're not only asking for something — we're ready to give something back."
Adding to the stress of filling empty slots in the band and forming a side project, 
Matt Pond has severely strained his vocal chords. "In the process of recording and practicing, I've stretched my voice to the point where it stops making more than a scratchy gurgle." His doctor ordered him to a whisper for the entire month of April, placing him on medication to repair his vocal chords, and to hopefully avoid developing nodules or polyps.
Steven Jewett from Matt Pond PA blogged, "In addition looking for designers, web designers, photographers, those who make films to music, and those that make anything to music. In the light of the impending spring, we’d like to open doors rather than close them. We’d like to see what kind of world’s out there."
