Lykke Li: Little Bit EP

Posted by Flick in News on 04 23rd, 2008 | View Comments

Lykke Li is another Swedish artist you’re sure to hear about over the next few months. Her debut album, Little Bit EP, is split up into four chapters that she wrote and recorded with Bjorn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn and John, and will be released on her own label, LL Recordings, on May 6. She will be touring the US with El Perro Del Mar and Anna Terneim in May, quickly introducing her to a North American audience. While the rest of the world is introduced to Lykke Li through her Little Bit EP, her full-length debut, Youth Novels, came out in Sweden on January 30.

Lykke Li posted one of her first demos, Tonight, on Myspace and has made this secret chapter available on her website as a free download. She finished her album in January and made appearances at bookstores in Scandinavia. Since her debut she has had over 800,000 views on Myspace.

With a similar simplistic approach as El Perro Del Mar, Lykke Li keeps the instrumentation sparse yet effective. Her use of percussion is interesting, constructed by Bjorn Yttling and John Eriksson. She has such a gentle voice that you may confuse this twenty-two year old for a child. Lykke Li colors outside the lines with the saxaphone, piano, mellotron, trumpet and flute.

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
