Joanna Newsom and the Ys Street Band EP

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 04 13th, 2007 | View Comments

Joanna NewsomJoanna Newsom is releasing an EP titled Joanna Newsom and the Ys Street Band on April 24. The album will bring fans one new song, Colleen, lasting 6:41, though Joanna is known for releasing 16 minute songs. Two tracks follow Colleen: a new version of Clam, Crab, Cockle, Cowrie, and a new version of Cosmia. The EP was recorded with Newsom's touring band, hence the name of the album.

Joanna Newsom and the Ys Street Band is Newsom's third release, with two self-released preceeding her 2004 solo debut. This EP follows the critically acclaimed Ys, spanning 55:41 with five songs. Born in 1982, this harpist, pianist, and harpsichordist has also collaborated with Golden Shoulders, The Pleased, Nervous Cop, Vetiver, Smog (Bill Callahan), and Vashti Bunyan. She has toured with Will Oldham, Devendra Barnhart, and Vetiver. (Wikipedia)

Europeans will have the opportunity to see Joanna Newsom and the Ys-ers, from April 14 to May 5. During the last week of April she will be touring with Alasdair Roberts in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and Holland. Following this, on April 29, Joanna is performing at All Tomorrow's Parties festival in Glastonbury, UK.

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
