Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter: Like, Love, Lust and the Open Halls of the Soul

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 02 9th, 2007 | View Comments

Jesse SykesJesse Sykes and The Sweet Hereafter released their latest album, Like, Love, Lust and the Open Halls of the Soul, through Barsuk Records. This is Jesse's third album, fourth if you count the release by her former band, Hominy. Tucker Martine (Decemberists, The Long Winters) and Marin Feveyear (Mark Lanegan, Kings of Leon) recorded and mixed this album.

Jesse shared on her website, "We were trying to capture some pretty ephemeral stuff on this album — love and fragile human emotion, the 21st century's strange combination of swagger and vulnerability — and the feeling of a tight knit group of friends coming together and sharing music."

Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter are in the middle of a tour with Sparklehorse, traveling throughout the continental US, along with two shows in Canada. Following the tour with Sparklehorse, Jesse Sykes will perform at South by Southwest, at the Barsuk Records Showcase at Buffalo Billiards on March 15. Six days later the band will perform at KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic for the second time. Jesse has plans to stay on the road for 2007.

    about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
