Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 04 19th, 2007 | View Comments

Iron and WineIron and Wine has announced that his next full-length will drop September 25. Sam Beam, the solo artist that writes under the name of Iron and Wine, will release Shepherd's Dog via Sub Pop, as he has with his previous albums. The track listing for Shepherd's Dog has also been divulged, as has a few live recordings.

The first single for the Shepherd's Dog album will be released July 10, promoting Boy With a Coin. The single will also contain Carried Home, and Kingdom of the Animals, tracked during the Shepherd's Dog recording session. Two other b-sides are still unclaimed by an album at this point.

Sam Beam"Beam says the new album has a 'wider sonic palette' than anything he's previously released. Among the guests are Calexico's Joey Burns and Paul Niehaus, Tin Hat Trio accordionist Rob Burger and Califone's Brian Deck. 'There's some waltzes, reggae-influenced stuff and some straight-up West African highlife music,' he says, the latter style of which crops up on 'House by the Sea.'" (Billboard)

Sam Beam has a Masters of Fine Arts in Film and Cinematography, and according to Wikipedia, was a professor at Miami University before taking ahold of his musical career. Since 2002, Iron and Wine has released three full-lengths, twelve EPs and singles, and self-directed numerous music videos. In 2005 he released In The Reigns EP with Calexico, and his cover of Postal Service's Such Great Heights was on the Garden State soundtrack.

    about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
