Efterklang: Under Giant Trees EP on April 2

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 01 16th, 2007 | View Comments

EfterklangEfterklang is releasing a "mini-album" called Under Giant Trees through The Leaf Label on April 2. This five song EP is a teaser of sorts for their full-length coming in the fall of 2007.

After touring heavily in 2005 the band took a break from the road and spent the entire year in their recording studio. "Despite of a few sentimental jam sessions and late night pling plong, we haven’t played a single concert at all in 2006. It’s been a great pleasure and also a need for us, to collect all our focus and energy on these specific studio projects and make sure the result would/will come out just the way we want it to be. So far and by the end of this now old year, we are all quite satisfied with the results."

Early on in 2006 Efterklang recorded songs for a vinyl LP called One-Sided. The 12" was released through Burnt Toast Vinyl, with three songs on side A and an etching on side B. The remainder of the year was spent recording the songs for Giant Trees and the full-length that is coming later this year.

To kick off 2007, Efterklang redesigned their site with an attractive "blog inspired" style. They also posted a reflective and pensive cover of Efterklang's Step Aside by Tobias Hellkvist,a producer from Malmö, Sweden.

Efterklang formed in 2001 and hail from Copenhagen, Denmark. The five members include Mads Brauer, Casper Clausen, Thomas Husmer, Rune Mølgaard & Rasmus Stolberg. The band released their early recordings through their own label called Rumraket, before signing to The Leaf Label in 2004.

Tripper, their first full-length, was released in 2004 and included 34 guest musicians, along with a Greenlandic choir. The album became the fastest selling album in Leaf Label history, gathering strong reviews from respected publications. They backed this up by touring heavily and signing bands to Rumraket, such as the Grizzly Bears, Cacoy, and Kama Aina.

Mads Brauer and Casper Clausen recorded "their first film score for the danish animation movie Princess which should be out now in different parts of the world." They were "nominated for best film score of 2006 in Denmark by the Danish Film Academy."

Rasmus Stolberg is the main person behind Rumraket. They recently signed Taxi Taxi!, a Swedish twin duo, and will be releasing their EP this spring. Also in Rumraket news, the Icelandic band Amiina is releasing a 12" vinyl single.

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
