Denison Witmer’s Special Web Release

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 11 14th, 2006 | View Comments

Denison WitmerDenison Witmer turned 30 and celebrated by releasing 33 songs for free on a special Happy Birthday Denison website, as Puddlegum had speculated. Michel Musser and Denison recorded 50 songs with one microphone, accomplishing the task in only 3 days. These songs capture the raw and compelling thread of Denison's songwriting. Denison shared, "I performed each song once or twice and we moved on to the next. We then listened back to all of the tracks and selected our favorite 30 from the collection."

Most of the songs are from Denison Witmer's catalogue of 80+ released song over the past ten years. His birthday giveaway also includes covers by Nick Drake's Northern Sky, Jackson Browne's These Days, and the traditional Prayer of Saint Francis.

Denison asks: "In exchange for the content (songs, etc), I am asking that you donate money to the charities I have chosen. Please donate whatever amount wish. The content on this site will always remain free of charge. All donations are received as a goodwill exchange." The charities that Denison has chosen to support are Partners In Health and Musicians On Call.

The website has photos of Witmer, and will soon have a forum. Denison promises to add additional songs every year on his birthday, November 4. Keep checking the site because Denison is releasing podcasts of stories from his touring experiences.

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
