Denison Witmer: web release coming + re-release of Safe Away

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 09 26th, 2006 | View Comments

Denison WitmerWhile the details are mirky, Denison Witmer rescheduled his European tour plans so he could record an as-of-yet announced project. The original tour plan would have had Denison touring in Sweden this week, but instead he'll tour Sweden in late October. "I am busy working on a very special project. Having an extra week at home will allow me to see this project through more fully and accurately. Trust me when I say it has future benefits in respect to both my music and my relationship with all of you."

Speculation is that Denison Witmer is planning a special web release of free songs for his fans. This would drive traffic to his website and introduce new people to his music. His label, The Militia Group, does not provide music files in the mp3 format, so it will be interesting to see if Witmer's project will be under his name or if The Militia Group will be associated with it.

Denison is currently under no management agency, at least none are listed on his website or on The Militia Group's website. After having been available in the US since August 2005, Are You A Dreamer was released on his European label, Bad Taste Records, in August 2006. The label from Sweden adds, "The first 2,000 copies of the Denison Witmer album Are You A Dreamer? will include an exclusive 6-track bonus EP recorded at Mission Hall Studio in Sweden. It features unreleased tracks + alternate versions of a few tracks off the regular album, including an incredible version of Castle And Cathedral with Rosie Thomas on vocals."

Denison Witmer - Safe AwayDenison Witmer is re-releasing Safe Away (for the third time) with The Militia Group on October 17. This special album was Denison's first full-length, originally an independent release in 1998. Safe Away shows Denison blossoming into his songwriting style not long after graduating from high school. Don Peris of The Innocence Mission produced the later half of the album. This 16 track album has been a favorite of Puddlegum's since it was re-released (for the first time) by Burnt Toast Vinyl in 2000.

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
