David Bazan: Burn to Shine 04

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 02 8th, 2007 | View Comments

David BazanChristoph Green and Brendan Canty (Fugazi) recently finished filming their fourth Burn to Shine. David Bazan (Pedro the Lion, Headphones) appears in their latest 55 minute film series, with Seattle as the setting for this episode.

Each Burn to Shine film is placed in an abandoned home that is about to be destroyed. "The bands set up in the living room, playing just one song each for the cameras alone, allowing the viewer to experience them in an intimate setting." After the footage is captured to tape, the house is burned and demolished.

Twenty-eight bands have appeared in the Burn to Shine series thus far, including: Ted Leo, Wilco, The Decemberists, The Shins, and Sleater-Kinney.

David Bazan will be on a short nine-gig solo tour with Pattern is Movement this February. "David will be playing songs from his solo, Pedro The Lion, and Headphones catalog. Plus a few well-placed covers," explains Bob Andrews from Undertow Music. The February 10 (2007) show will be performed with Sam Beam of Iron and Wine. For a taste of Bazan's solo concerts, Undertow have posted live videos of Big Trucks and The Man In Me (a Bob Dylan cover) on YouTube.

    about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
