Cougar: debuts Law on February 20

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 12 30th, 2006 | View Comments

Cougar

Cougar is releasing their debut album on February 20, a full length instrumental album called Law. The album was released digitally on iTunes and Emusic in April of `06, and has begun to gather praise in magazines and blogs. Cougar is touring in January and February in the Midwest and West Coast, promoted through Pitch Perfect PR (Asthmatic Kitty, Merge Records).

Members of the band include Trent Johnson, Dan Venne, D.H. Skogen, Aaron Sleator, and Todd Hill. Mixing elements of styles together to form what they call Emergency Rock, "each song is a collage of voices constantly interacting and evolving one another. Shape shifting melodies, vast sonic canvases, dense, raw, electronic, organic, found-percussion and driven sounds resonate throughout."

Law is being released on a Madison, Wisconsin artist organization/label called The Layered Arts Collective. Musicians, writers, poets, and various forms of artists have came together to support each other's creative works. Books are being published, and music is being released through Layered Music. Members of the organization hold educational classes for high school students in the Madison area to encourage growth in the artistic community.

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
