Chris Schlarb: Twilight Variations

Posted by Flick in News on 11 16th, 2007 | View Comments

Chris SchlarbChris Schlarb is leaving Section IV open for your remix interpretations. The song is from his upcoming Twilight and Ghost Stories album, waiting to be released on December 4 through Asthmatic Kitty. The remix project is called Twilight Variations, and the song can be downloaded as WAV files or Garageband 3 file with all the arranged parts.

“With Twilight Variations I’m opening up Section IV so that anyone can pick it apart piece by piece, re-arrange it or add their own instrumentation. The beauty of this is that it allows for a deeper cross-section of what went into Twilight: things that were faded out, obscured or inaudible are now clearly presented for all who care to hear. Then, if the spirit moves, add a few melodies and ghosts of your own.”

Chris Schlarb: Twilight VariationsChris Schlarb recorded this improvisational jazz song with a group of accomplished musicians: Olando Greenhill (Havalina Rail Co.), Languis, Sebastian Krueger (Inlets), Sandy Ewen, Aaron Russell (The Weird Weeds), Dave Longstreth (Dirty Projectors), Lynn Johnston, and Bhob Rainey.

Over the past five years Chris brought in over 50 musicians to record Twilight and Ghost Stories. “This dense 40 minute composition,” has ten sections, and will appeal to experimental music lovers.

This is the first album Chris Schlarb has released under his name. Other projects that Chris Schlarb has contributed to include: Acid Reign, Anthony Shadduck Quartet, Belltower, Bizzart, Castanets, Create (!), Ellul, I Heart Lung, Liz Janes, My Brightest Diamond, The Mystics, Omid, Soul-Junk, themorningcall, and Xn.

    about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
