Castanets: In The Vines, plus a Rafter remix

Posted by Flick in News on 08 14th, 2007 | View Comments

Castanets Ray Raposa of Castanets is releasing his third full-length album on October 23. Titled In The Vines, the collection of ten freak folk songs is described as “deeply psychological and intimate.”

While recording this album, Raymond Raposa brought in Jana Hunter (Peter and the Wolf), Nanhorse (Vanishing Voice), Viking Moses, and Matthew Houck (Shaky Hands).

“Inspired by a Buddhist fable, Ray Raposa completed the album just after three thieves mugged him outside his Bedstuy apartment in Brooklyn. And regular readers will recall that other thieves recently stole all of Castanets’ gear while on tour.”

Asthmatic Kitty has offered a remix of Strong Animal, the fourth track on Castanets’ In The Vines. The song was remixed by Rafter Roberts.

First Light's FreezeJohn Beeler of Asthmatic Kitty shared with Puddlegum, “We also have a couple new projects I’m pretty stoked about, not the least of which is an Asthmatic Kitty roster-wide DVD of music videos. We also will be announcing a couple new artists over the next month or two.”

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
