Calvin Harris: I Created Disco to hit US

Posted by Flick in News on 08 1st, 2007 | View Comments

Calvin Harris at Radio 1's Big Weekend Calvin Harris is being introduced to the US market on September 4, with the release of I Created Disco. The fourteen track album was first released in Europe on June 18 via EMI, already sporting several hit songs in the UK. Almost Gold, who brought us Peter Bjorn and John and Walter Meego, is Calvin’s North American label.

“Exhibiting a creative and inventive edge, but still undeniably pop, Calvin Harris’s music is already picking up rave reviews and daytime Radio 1 play. Just 23 years old and hailing from Dumfries, this young Scot made his debut album I Created Disco in his bedroom on a battered old Amiga computer.” (Almost Gold)

Calvin Harris - I Created DiscoThis 80′s electronic inspired artist from Scotland surprised the UK charts with his first top ten single, Acceptable In The 80′s, staying on the charts for fifteen weeks. He followed this single with The Girls, reaching number three on the charts, and Merrymaking At My Place following this. (Wikipedia)

Building on the success of his radio singles, Calvin Harris will be traveling the UK, France, and Holland on weekend dates in August and September. Calvin’s I Created Disco UK Tour will hit in the month of November; tickets for the tour are currently on sale.

    about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
