Built to Spill performs on NPR

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 10 11th, 2006 | View Comments

Last night, on October 10, Built to Spill performed in Washington DC as the show was streamed on NPR. Having a large repertoire of music they have written over the past 15 years, Doug Martsch and Built to Spill performed 15 songs, for a total of 108 minutes. Three of the songs were from their latest release, You In Reverse.

NPR states, "With Neil Young and Pavement as influences, Built to Spill developed a trademark sound of gracefully winding guitar interplay, spiraling solos and Martsch's distinctive, emotionally-charged voice. They've just released their first collection of new songs in five years. Fans and critics are calling You in Reverse one of the band’s best albums to date."

Before the show, Built to Spill sat down for an interview with NPR. In the interview they discuss the band history, modern music, writing and recording, guitar amps, and finding the right guitar tone.

Built to Spill's You In Reverse was also featured on NPR's All Things Considered.

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
