Bob Dylan: in person
Since Bob Dylan came onto the scene in 1962 at the age of twenty with his first Columbian album, simply titled Bob Dylan, he quickly became one of the most influential artists of our lifetime. Heralded as an icon of the folk movement, then doing the unthinkable of mixing rock with folk, Dylan was rarely understood by the press. As they tried to pinpoint him, he ran from being defined, and would redefine himself roughly every three albums.
This playlist is a collection of 45 videos with Bob Dylan, starting with a radio interview in 1962, and stretching to our modern times. The playlist includes famous encounters with the press, along with a 10-part documentary, Don’t Look Back, filmed in 1965 while Dylan toured London with Joan Baez. Also included are clips from the 1965 Newport Festival Folk Festival when Dylan went “electric,” a drunken conversation he had with John Lennon, and many other moments.
