Ben Gibbard: Just Jazzin’ free form project

Posted by Flick in Puddlegum Archives on 04 1st, 2008 | View Comments

Ben Gibbard fans have been anxious for a rumored Postal Service album. Instead, Ben has announced a “free form” project called Just Jazzin’ in the spirit of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. This news comes just days after releasing the first single of Death Cab for Cutie’s new album, Narrow Stairs. According to his Myspace, Lionel Hampton, Bobby Hutcherson, and Milt Jackson are also involved in his Just Jazzin’ project.

“….there’s this side of me and my music that desires a lack of structure and Just Jazzin’ does that for me because I am allowed to just play whatever note comes into my head,” his Myspace explains.

And if you believed that Gibbard was serious, you’ve been April Fooled.

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
