Since Belle and Sebastian released in 2006, the band has been busy working behind the music scene in Scotland. The Life Pursuit Richard Colburn and Chris “Beans” have both been DJing around clubs in England. More involving, Beans and Mr Divine (Divine, Glasgow Art School) opened a night club called The Flying Duck on October 12. The Flying Duck is located at 142 Renfield St, Glasgow, Scotland.
“The cleverly titled ‘Singles Night’ will be a monthly event with Andrew and Chris playing your favourite 45s from around 11pm until 3am. Expect to hear everything from rockabilly to electro with plenty of funk, soul, and post-punk party rockers inbetween.”
Belle and Sebastian’s Stuart Murdoch has been hiding behind the control board as producer for the three-piece Zoey Van Goey.
They recorded the single, Foxtrot Vandals, and released it as a 7″, with Song To The Embers on side-b. Say Dirty Records released the vinyl, and it, “has been picking up radio play and rave reviews in Scotland.” The three members of Zoey Van Goey are from Canada, Ireland and England, and “met and formed in Glasgow earlier this year and recruited Stuart (to produce) and Bob (to play on) the single.”
