Bellavista is releasing a self-titled debut in early May via Take Root Records. Comprised primarily of former members of Vue, the band from San Francisco, "are offering up more of that sweet, sweet fuzz pop, and sweaty, reverb-y guitar rock," Robbie Mackie of The Musebox shared with Puddlegum. Bellavista's "monstrous" CD release party will be at The Rickshaw Shop in San Francisco on April 25, and their music video for Temptation By Your Side will be released soon.
"For the uninitiated, Vue formed in the late ‘90s and released a pair of albums on Sub Pop and an EP on RCA. Between 2001 and 2004 (when they called it quits), Vue performed with The Rolling Stones, BRMC, Franz Ferdinand, The Faint and …Trail Of The Dead."
Rex Shelverton and Jeremy Bringetta have been writing, recording, and performing together since 1994 under the name of Portaits of Past. A year later when college took the band to Santa Cruz, they recorded their debut full-length through Ebullition Records, and toured the US. After Portraits of Past broke up in 1996, Jeremy and Rex formed short-lived Seventeen Queen.
The Audience was formed, and the band recorded Young Soul on GSL Records, and began recording a full-length for Sub Pop. The Audience toured the US and changed their name to Vue after some line-up changes. In September, 1999 they released Death of a Girl EP on GSL, and the Vue LP on Sub Pop in February, 2000.
Vue released Find Your Home through Sub Pop, touring the US and Europe with The Faint, BRMC, and …Trail of Dead, between 2001 and 2002. RCA Records signed them and released Babies are for Petting EP in 2003, and the band began working on a full-length. The band dealt with more line-up changes before touring Europe with Hot Hot Heat, Franz Ferdinand, and opening a show for Rolling Stones. RCA kept pushing the release date back, eventually dropping Vue in February 2004. Three of the five final members of Vue are now releasing music as Bellavista.
