Beirut: exhausted and cancels tour

Posted by Flick in Uncategorized on 11 15th, 2006 | View Comments

BeirutHaving just finished a tour in Europe, Beirut had plans to play a handful of shows in the US before taking a break, but exhaustion had already set in. Since September 22, Beirut and his 12-person orkestar have performed 16 shows in the Continental US and Canada since September 22, followed by seven shows in Europe with Calexico. Zach Condon found his limit and the band decided to cancel the remaining four gigs on the East Coast.

This summer Beirut signed with 4AD when his debut, Gulag Orkestar, had blown up in the blogosphere. This month his new label rereleased Gulag Orkestar, packaged with a five-song Lon Gisland EP. This tour was Beirut's first tour and the band plans to reschedule the remaining shows. No word yet when and if the Lon Gisland EP will be released in the US.

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
